Doug Lemley Memorial Scholarship

The information provided on this page is a general outline of the scholarship program and may not reflect changes to the program from year to year.

Information for the next scholarship year will be available at the beginning of the year. The deadline is generally the end of February. 

The Oregon School Facilities Management Association consists of members from public and private schools throughout Oregon. We are facilities managers, operations staff, custodians, maintenance staff, and groundskeepers dedicated to the upkeep of our schools and providing the most appropriate educational environment for students.

We will award five scholarships of $1,000 each, one in each OSFMA Zone. There must be an active OSFMA School Member in the school or district where the student attends.

We look for candidates who will be pursuing an area of study that would relate to a job in facility management, maintenance, support operations, engineering, or technology. Scholarships may be used at any accredited institution such as a Junior College, Community College, Trade or Technical School, University, or College. Funds will be sent to the financial aid office of the school once verification of enrollment has been completed in the fall.


The application will be a fillable . It must be downloaded and saved to your computer to function properly.

Generally, applications are made available in January of each year.


General Requirements

  • The student must have a current OSFMA member as an employee of their school or district.
  • Student must be working towards a degree or certificate in a field of study compatible with school operations.
  • Applications must not be handwritten.
  • Student must be a graduating senior with a minimum 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent grade point average .

Submit completed applications to:

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed and selected prior to the OSFMA Annual Conference held in April of each year. Awardees will be announced during the conference and will have the opportunity to receive the award in person.

Include the following in the final application packet:

  • Personal statement (500 words or fewer) why you deserve the scholarship.
  • Current high school/college transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation (could come from a teacher, pastor, civic leader, community member, boss, etc.)
  • College/School acceptance letter, if received.
  • Additional documentation or information demonstrating two or more of the following skills: leadership, achievements, volunteering, school or civic club membership.

** OSFMA Employees, Board Members, Scholarship Committee Members and families are not eligible to participate in the Scholarship Program.
